Mariel Buckley has carved her place as a fearless

Genre-defying alt-folk songwriter, writing for the underdogs and finding her voice on the fringes of modern Americana. Raised in Canada’s rodeo and country heartland, she has consistently challenged musical and personal boundaries, blending introspective lyrics with a raw, emotive sound.

Her albums, Driving In The Dark (2018) and the Polaris Music Prize-nominated Everywhere I Used To Be (2022), established her as a dynamic storyteller and live performer. For her latest record, Strange Trip Ahead, Buckley journeyed to Nashville to work with producer Jarrad K, crafting a reflective, genre-bending album that explores vulnerability, choice, and the push and pull of creative life.

across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, with showcases at SXSW, Americanafest, The Philadelphia Folk Fest, and Folk Alliance International. She has shared stages with k.d. lang, Orville Peck, John Moreland, and The Bros Landreth, proving that her live performances are as compelling as her deeply personal songwriting.
