Their History

Claya Way Brackenbury, performing as PINER

is a singer-songwriter based in Katarokwi (Kingston, Ontario) whose work centers on empathy, connection, and social consciousness. Her critically acclaimed debut album, The Breaking Point (2018), established her as a confident and vulnerable voice in Canada’s indie-folk landscape.

She followed with the full-band EP Root Bound (2019), recorded at North of Princess Studios in Kingston, and later released A Netherworld, recorded at Joel Plaskett’s studio in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The album explores hope and longing during fractured times, reflecting her commitment not only to songwriting but to community action.

PINER has played extensively across

Ontario and Quebec. In Kingston, she has taken the stage at The Broom Factory, The Mansion, Kingston Grand Theatre, and local festivals like Wolfe Island Music Festival and Skeleton Park Arts Festival.

She has also performed in Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, Hamilton, and London, sharing stages with artists including Georgia Harmer, Mo Kenney, and Crash Test Dummies.
